The fight for equality...
Modjeska Simkins was the matriarch of the Civil Rights Movement in South Carolina. She was also a leader in African-American public health and social reform. For her contributions to the struggle for civil rights, Simkins is an American Hero. Her activism, which at times was controversial, drew negative attention. Simkins' life and home became the targets of violence. An unknown assailant fired shots at her house while she was active with the NAACP.

Rhonda Tolbert
Meet Rhonda Tolbert. Rhonda loves to spend her days connecting people with the services they need. As a Homebuyer Programs Specialist, she gets to help Nevadans achieve their dreams of homeownership. She works with both homebuyers and partners — including lenders and real estate agents — to educate people about Nevada Housing Division homebuying programs. Her reward is knowing that the programs she shares with her community help hard working low- and middle-income Nevadans, who otherwise might not be able to get into a home, become homeowners.
